Philanthropy: This is Home

A cadet in uniform saluting as the flag is prepared to be raised.

By Kelley Corvin VT'12, Chief Advancement Officer

Growing up in Blacksburg, my Hokie pride runs very deep; some might even say I bleed orange and maroon. Although I was not a cadet when I attended Virginia Tech, the rich history and tradition that the Corps of Cadets has at the university is fundamental to the DNA of Virginia Tech and the values that are important to our student body.

When I think about Virginia Tech, I cannot do it without picturing cadets marching on campus, hearing the iconic boom from Skipper at football games, or even eagerly listening for the jubilant voices of Ranger Company as they run around campus Homecoming week with the game ball. It is these iconic moments, paired with the incredible service and sacrifice that our cadets make while they are at Virginia Tech and after graduation, that have always inspired me to support the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets through my personal philanthropic contributions.

As I start as the Chief Advancement Officer for the Corps and reflect on my eight years being back in Blacksburg, I am beyond grateful to be able to serve the regiment and I’m filled with a tremendous sense of pride to be on the commandant’s staff. I look forward to building relationships with alumni and friends of the Corps and cannot wait to see the impact these relationships will foster to support current and future cadets. As Cecelia Ahern so wisely stated, “I’ve learned that home isn’t a place, it’s a feeling.” As I sit in my office and look out onto the Upper Quad, I am filled with a feeling…THIS IS HOME!

I look forward to connecting with you and exploring the impact you wish to have in the Corps’ continued success. Please contact me, Kelley Corvin, at 540-231-2806 or kcorvin@vt.edu for more information.

Special Naming Opportunities

A few naming opportunities remain available in the new Corps Leadership and Military Science Building, as well as other locations on Upper Quad. Secure your legacy naming for years to come.

Endowments

Endowments provide a dependable, perpetual source of funding for things such as cadet scholarships, travel funding, and programmatic support. Endowments create a funding source to support the Corps in perpetuity.

Brick Campaign

There is still time to qualify and have a personalized brick plaque in the Corps Leadership and Military Science Building. Cumulative giving to VTCC Annual Funds of $2,500 qualifies you for this special opportunity. The deadline to earn a Brick Plaque is March 10, 2025.

Annual Gifts

Annual gifts of any amount can make an immediate impact. They can be in the form of a one-time gift or set up on a convenient, recurring basis. Annual gifts can help sponsor a cadet on Caldwell March, be used to set up a named current-use scholarship, or even support some of our newest funds: Commandant Scholarship Response Fund or the Major General and Mrs. Randal D. Fullhart Horizon Fund.
