Class Notes Fall 2025
1960s
John E. Brown ’65 organized a reunion dinner for the Class of ’65 at The University Club. Over 50 alumni and guests attended, and Maj. Gen. Seely provided remarks to kick off the event.
Homer Hickam ’64 visited the Corps Museum to donate the uniforms he wore in Vietnam…and to visit Skipper, of course!
Bob Garst ’66 served as one of the docents during the Class of 2029 visit to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia this fall where he shared his own experiences in the U.S. military. Ken Besecker ’69 also joined the tour.
1990s
Capt. Dan Bense ’99 and Capt. Dave Wiltshire ’04 returned to Upper Quad in September to meet with Navy ROTC Midshipmen and see all the changes in the Corps facilities.
2000s
Col. Jonathan Ebbert ’00 took a moment to locate the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets plaque at the National Museum of the United States Army. Ebbert serves in the District of Columbia National Guard and in his civilian status, he is the National Guard Bureau Director of Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction Division Chief, and the program manager of the National Guard’s Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Response Enterprise.
This summer three Corps alumni assumed O-6 command in the United States Marine Corps:
Col. Nicholas Lozar ’01 took command of Marine Depot Maintenance Command in Albany, Georgia.
Col. George Flynn III ’01 took command of the 5th Marine Regiment in Camp Pendleton, California.
Col. Andrew Terrell ’02 took command of the 7th Marine Regiment in 29 Palms, California.
Cmdr. James Gouger ’06 and Lt. Cmdr. John Sapliway ’12 conducted their change of charge ceremony at Joint Reserve Intelligence Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
