Being a Highty-Tighty is not limited to the four years that you are a student at Virginia Tech. You are a Highty-Tighty for life through the strong bonds with your fellow Highty-Tighties.

Long after graduation, many alumni say the regimental band is one of the most influential organizations in their lives.

Founded in 1975, the Highty-Tighty Alumni Inc. has supported the regimental band in several important ways. Over the decades, alumni have donated millions of dollars that today fund the Highty-Tighty signing bonus of $2,000 each entering freshman is awarded. There are Emerging Leader Scholarships, which many Highty-Tighties benefit from every year. Alumni provide other scholarships to outstanding members of the band, as well.

Highty-Tighty alumni also mentor the freshmen each year. When you join the band, an alumnus mentor will keep in touch with you at least once a semester, providing encouragement and advice as you navigate the challenges of college life.

Each year, more than 100 Highty-Tighty alumni return to campus for homecoming. Many form the Highty-Tighty Alumni Band that participates in the homecoming parade and at the pre-game show in Lane Stadium. There is fun and fellowship throughout the weekend.

Highty-Tighty alumni are living proof of what the regimental band means to those who were cadets as far back as 60 years ago. Their generosity in supporting the Highty-Tighties is a true testament to what being a member of this outstanding organization means. Our purpose as Highty-Tighty alumni is to see that the long-standing tradition of excellence is maintained and that the Highty-Tighty experience is available to the generations yet to come.
