Do Something Special with Your College Experience

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets offers you leadership experiences you would expect from one of the nation’s six senior military colleges along with the balance of a world-class research university that consistently ranks in the top 10 in the Princeton Review’s “Students Love Their Colleges” category.

Our cadets get the most out of their college experience. Campus-wide, our heart for service beats strongly in the university motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).

The 1,100+ cadets are enrolled in any of Virginia Tech’s 110+ bachelor’s degree programs and have an opportunity to earn a minor in leadership studies from the Corps. They live in one of the Corps’ two residence halls, and participate in the Corps’ 24/7 leader development program.

No Military Obligation After Graduation

Our cadets live a military lifestyle and on campus during their four years at Virginia Tech. You can choose our Military-Leader Track and work toward a commission through Virginia Tech's ROTC programs — Army, Navy (including Marine Option), and Air Force (including the Space Force). Our commissioning rate for 2021 graduates was 78%.

Military service is not required. Cadets who choose our Citizen-Leader Track option will apply their leadership skills to their chosen careers immediately after graduation without an obligation to serve in the armed forces.

Cadets can shift from one track to another at any time during their four years.
