The Corps of Cadets Regimental Band

What is going to be your favorite memory from college?

There are no other organization at Virginia Tech that foster lifelong friendships like the Corps of Cadets and its regimental band, the Highty-Tighties.

Your Goals Matter

Virginia Tech is founded on the motto of Ut Prosim (That I May Serve). That call to serve our communities echoes through everything we do.

Cadets choose Virginia Tech's Corps of Cadets because they want to do something different with their college experience.

Whether your plans include commissioning as an officer in the U.S. military or heading directly to a career in business or public service, the leadership opportunities and discipline of the Corps of Cadets and the Highty-Tighties will ensure you are ready.

We forge leaders through a team environment built on camaraderie, esprit de corps, and academic excellence. You will live and train with the Band Companies, two of 14 companies that make up the Corps of Cadets. Highty-Tighties follow the same rank structure and meet the same training and standards as the rest of the cadet regiment.

"The Highty-Tighty experience is different. We are more tightly knit than other companies within the Corps."

Earn Scholarships

Incoming Highty-Tighties are awarded a $2,000 signing bonus. Recipients earn $500 each semester for their first two years in the regimental band.

All incoming cadets, including Highty-Tighties, automatically compete for a Corps of Cadets Emerging Leader Scholarship. That’s $12,000 over four years for an out-of-state cadet, and $8,000 over four years for an in-state cadet.

Both scholarships can be applied toward the total cost of attendance.
