Senior Chief Kim Ford

Command Senior Chief Petty Officer (Surface Warfare/Air Warfare) Kimberly A. Ford, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania enlisted in the Navy in April 2002. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, she reported to Deck Department in her first command, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.  
 
Ford's assignments include tours at USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) (2002-2007) serving as work center supervisor and later leading petty officer for Third Division, Navy Recruiting District New York as a recruiter and recruiter-in-charge of Naval Recruiting Station Newton, NJ (2007-2010), leading petty officer and leading chief petty officer for Operations Deck Division aboard USS Halsey (DDG 97) (2010-2012), leading chief petty officer for Operations Deck division onboard USS Gridley (DDG 101) (2012-2015), Operations Department leading chief petty officer and plank owner onboard USS John Finn (DDG 113) (2015-2018) and as deck leading chief petty officer for the Boatswain’s Mate Schoolhouse and course curriculum manager for Standard Tensioned Replenishment Method (STREAM), 7M & 11M Coxswain, Boatswain’s Mate Apprentice, Supervisor and Division Officer (2018-2019), and Center for Combat Systems Learning Site Norfolk Senior Enlisted Leader (2019), Senior Enlisted Leader Mariner Skills Training Command (MSTC) Atlantic (2020-2021) and the senior enlisted leader for Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Virginia Tech (2021-2024).  
 
She retired in 2025 and joined the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets’ 1st Battalion as the senior enlisted advisor.  
 
Ford is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 234 (Gold) and graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course, Class 21140. She is a qualified master training specialist.  
 
Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), as well as other personal, unit, and campaign awards.
