COVID-19 / Corps Updates

This page is meant to answer questions specific to the Corps of Cadets. Answers may change as new information is available from Virginia Tech.
All information about housing, student services, academics, financial accounts, admissions, etc. will come from the university, not the Corps, at https://vt.edu/flu/2019Coronavirus.html.
Specific information about the ROTC programs will come from the individual ROTC programs.
Cadets moving out for the rest of the semester will need to follow all university guidance. Students may schedule a move out date/time on this form. Time slots will not be available until Virginia lifts its stay-at-home order.
If you have any special circumstances related to housing and access to our residence halls, including the need to access any of your possessions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The Corps staff cannot approve these these requests.
No Housing and Residence Life staff will be present to check out any departing cadets. The condition of rooms will be checked at a later date.
Cadets are responsible for returning appropriate uniforms to the Tailor Shop if they have not yet been collected by the Tailor Shop staff (see next topic).
All other unforms, plus the wool blanket from your bed, must go with you or stored with A Cleaner World for the summer (see next topic).
Trash and unwanted items should be taken to the dumpsters and not left in rooms.
Parade rifles have been collected from all rooms.
Once all items have been removed from the cadet's room and Corps-specific requirements have been completed, cadets should remove their AA cards from their doors and remove any residue before departing.
This checklist may change over time. Please check it again before you physically move out.
The Tailor Shop is closed until further notice. Any cadet with uniform items that need to be returned to the Tailor Shop (blouse, overcoat, cape, and saber) should place those items in the laundry cart just outside of the shop door, 202 Military Building. An email is required to email@example.com that lists all items left in the cart.
Cape and sabers must be returned to the Tailor Shop. Please ensure that the cape is not flared.
Any other uniform items you do not wish to keep should be placed in any Pearson Hall or New Cadet Hall lounge that remains open.

Overcoat, blue blouse, and sabers must be returned to the Tailor Shop.
Cadets not returning to the Corps in fall 2020
If you wish to use A Cleaner World for cleaning and storage of uniforms until August 2020, the business is at 103 King St SW in Blacksburg. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. If you cannot move your uniforms to the King Street location because of a shortage of vehicle space, please call 540-951-9506, as on-campus pick up might be arranged.
All Corps events for cadets are canceled through the end of the semester, including our traditional Corps Graduation and Joint Commissioning Ceremony.
Our intent is to offer and welcome back any of our graduating seniors to take part in our December 2020 or May 2021 graduation ceremonies. We realize that this may not be feasible for everyone, but we do want to honor your experience and dedication in any way that we can. Stay tuned for more information.
Corps Labs and Pro Labs are being taught online via Canvas.
We are retaining our Corps structures of battalions, companies, and all the positions therein. For purposes of communication, we are categorizing our “deployed” cadets living away from Upper Quad as iCorps. Those living in our residence halls are Task Force Blacksburg.
The regimental commander, Cadet Eryn Wolfe is the commander of both groups.
Cadets should follow all information sent by Canvas Announcements to keep up with the requirements to complete Corps Lab. Any specific questions about information contained in a Canvas Announcement should be sent to Dr. Humphrey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Deputy commandants and senior enlisted advisors are developing plans for fall 2020, including cadre and Cadre Logistics Team (CLTs are rising sophomores who support the cadre and New Cadet Week) members, company and battalion leadership roles, and nominations to the commandant for cadet regimental staff. The goal is to have all these identified by mid-April.
They also are working on rising sophomore company assignments with the goal of having them finalized by mid-April.
Activities are currently suspended, and ROTCs will pursue online learning per the university directive. Additional guidance will be coming from the individual units.
