Cadets receive the flags from football players in Lane Stadium.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the Virginia Tech football team together highlight the colors during every pregame ceremony.

Three football players are selected because of their performance in the last game or during practice to carry the American flag, the Virginia flag, and the team’s spirit flag as they lead the team onto the field. They take the flags the length of the field and deliver them to cadets at the south end.

The cadets also are selected based on their performance during training. They render honor to the flags, then securely carry them off the field.

Three freshman cadets are selected for each home game, and one or two upper-class cadets are chosen to travel with the team to each away game. For bowl games, members of the Corps of Cadets Color Guard are selected to receive the flags in recognition of their dedicated efforts throughout the year.

The program is part of the proud partnership the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets has with the Virginia Tech Athletic Department and the Virginia Tech football team.

Hokie Heroes

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Hokie Hero program, started in 2006 by IMG College, honors Corps alumni who are deployed during Hokie football games. Jon Laaser and Mike Burnop highlight the honorees during each game's radio broadcast.
