The regimental band is known for its winning record in competitive parades throughout history, and each year its senior leaders try to include at least one major parade on the band's calendar.
In recent years, the Highty-Tighties have participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City; the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Savannah, Georgia; the Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans; and the Virginia Governor's Inaugural Parade. In addition, the band performs for local Veterans Day events, Christmas parades, and other events as time permits.
The Highty-Tighties conduct the majority of the pre-game shows for Virginia Tech's home football games in Lane Stadium, march at least one halftime show, and share in the halftime show at the Homecoming Game.
